What is ATF Form 1?

ATF Form 1 is determined as the Application to Make and Register a Firearm. There are several definitions you must know before completing the document. They are the following:

  • Firearm. It is a shotgun with a barrel that is less than 18 inches in length or any kind of weapon that is made of such shotgun;

  • Person. It may be a company, individual, corporation, trust, association, etc.

  • Responsible person. It is a person that has a power to manage the company, corporation, trust or association either directly or indirectly;

  • Unserviceable firearm. It is a firearm that cannot discharge a shot by means of an explosive or restore to the condition of firing.

These are the basic notions for you to know. Every person who has a firearm and wants to register it must file this application.

The key purpose of the Application to Make and Register a Firearm is the registration of the firearm.

When is ATF Form 1 Due?

There is no a specific due date for this application. The time frame for it may differ according to the type of firearm you have and want to register. Check this information personally before completing the form.

Is ATF Form 1 Accompanied by Other Documents?

First of all, you must file this application in duplicate. If there is more than one responsible person, you must attach a list of all of them. For this complete Form 5320.23. Prepare the documents that confirm the validity of the company, corporation, trust or association.

What Information do I Include in ATF Form 1?

Choose the type of application. It may be a tax paid or tax exempt one. Just mark in on the form in an appropriate box. Indicate if the application is made by the individual, government entity or trust. After that you must provide the following information:

  • Trade name;

  • Applicant’s name;

  • Contact information and address;

  • Description of firearm: manufacturer, type, caliber or gauge, model, length of barrel, serial number, etc.

  • Applicant's federal firearms license;

  • Signature, name and title of authorized official, date.

Where do I Send ATF Form 1?

After you complete the application you must send it to the U.S. Department of Justice, Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives.

Welcome back everybody today we're going to be going over a how-to guide at least as of last Friday when I actually filled this form out how to file for your form one's very short Braille rifle or short Braille shotgun on the ATF see file site unfortunately we have an eval site because we have an FSA so if we want rifles with barrels of less than 16 inches or shotguns but barrels less than a bleep eighteen point five inches we have to go through this nonsense so what I'm going to do here is just kind of walk you through it because it can be a little bit confusing um like I said I just filed the one that you guys are actually gonna watch here like what six days five days ago six days ago so it's going to be the current configuration and interface of the website as you see it so it may change down the road if you guys are watching this year from now I don't know I can't guarantee that I don't know what the ATF does who knows but right now is what it looks like and I'm gonna try to answer a lot of questions that I've seen come up in forums and stuff like that about how to fill in this block and how to fill in that block one thing I want to point out is that um from what I've seen on the internet as well as living several different places with different um and if a people who review it so like country's broken up into regions for those of you don't know and each region is assigned a person or persons who reviews the applications for that region at least um at the ATF so that's how they do it certain people from what I read on forums I don't know enough not to be oh no all expert at all seem to want different verbage but what I'm going to do here is just tell you exactly what I've used and I've gotten obviously you guys watch the channel I got a ton of tax stamps approved so it's what's worked for me and it's what I know so if you know something else or you have better techniques or advice by all means possible in the comments section to help the other viewers out so we can all share knowledge and hopefully get our stamps process as soon as possible so just as of right now as of today in order to do the e-file you need to have a like a trust or a corporation or some sort of legal entity outside of you filing as an individual to file on their that may change on the road as of right now that's how it works and right now form threes of tribal leadership pressures are down so we're not going to do that if it comes back up or you can do that stuff you file instead of on paper I'll do another video for that I'll show you guys how to do that as well but anyway enough gabbing by me let's get into the actual process for those of you guys they're waiting on that okay so the screen you see here on this right here is the home page once you log in and I guess I should back up um you have to create an account before you do anything and get your account approved at the ATF online website that you see there so once you do that and I honestly guys they have really...
